Bio

My name is Francis (He/Him), and I am a recent math and stats graduate, a community organizer, and someone who is currently advancing their data science, geospatial, and research skills through supplementary courses, education, and passion projects. My research interests lie in socioeconomic demographical research, particularly the conditions of Filipinos in Canada and the Philippines.

I have previous quantitative, professional, academic, volunteer, and project experience covering machine learning techniques (e.g., regression), mathematical and statistical topics (e.g., calculus, hypothesis testing), data visualization libraries and tools (e.g., GeoPandas), and database management (Excel, SQL). In addition, I have many transferable skills and experiences that would be conducive in rigorous academic research settings (e.g. report writing, literature analysis and review, data collection and processing).
My career goal is to leverage my machine learning, statistics, and spatial skills and experiences to visualize data on socioeconomic metrics and generate data-driven insights that will advance more equitable public policies.
